Dear Parents/Guardian:

 

Well, it’s almost that time of year again!

 

This year, we are continuing to take steps towards becoming a “paperless” school.  In an effort to cut down on the amount of paper being mailed and the cost of postage, we are posting a large portion of the 2009-2010 School Packet on the school website – www.shelterisland.k12.ny.us.

 

If you do not have access to a computer or if you prefer to have a hard copy of the on-line information, please call Jacki Dunning, at 749-0302, extension 408 and she will send the information to you.

 

As this is the first year we are using the website in this way, we are sending home all of the forms. Next year, these items will also be posted on the website, instead of mailed.

• Letter from the Shelter Island Educational Foundation (Grade 7-12 families only)

 

The Emergency Contact Sheets, Student Dismissal Form, Middle School Discipline Agreement Form (if applicable) and High School Discipline Agreement Form (if applicable) MUST be returned to the school.  All of the other forms are optional.

While our students have been on vacation, we have been busy with a number of construction projects throughout the building.  I think you will be pleased when you see the many changes.  The following is a list of what has been done.

 

• The Cafeteria has been painted and now has anew tile floor.
• The Middle School Classrooms a hallway have new tile floors.
• The Gymnasium has been updated with a new drop ceiling.
• The Boys’ and Girls’ Locker Room Showers and Bathrooms have new tile.

As always, I look forward to welcoming all of our students back.  I especially look forward to meeting our new kindergarten students.  I know they will have many wonderful years here at the Shelter Island School.
