Community Member Needed For Shared Decision Making Committee
The Shelter Island School is searching for a community member to serve on their Shared Decision Making Committee. Shared Decision Making is a process by which all members of the education community cooperate in identifying educational issues, defining goals, formulating policy and implementing and assessing activities to help students reach standards of excellence. Anyone who is interested in sitting on this committee should send a letter of interest to the Shelter Island Board of Education, by November 30th.

Shelter Island Yearbooks Are Now On Sale!
The 2010 Edition of the Shelter Island Yearbook, Pogatticut is now on sale. The cost of a yearbook is $55.00 if ordered by December 1, 2009, or $65.00 if ordered after December 1st. If you would like to order a copy of the yearbook, please send a check to Shelter Island School, Post Office Box 2015, Shelter Island, NY, 11964. Checks should be made payable to Shelter Island School. Please indicate "Yearbook" in the memo section of your check. Payment can also be dropped off in the Main Lobby of the school. If you have any questions, please contact the Yearbook Advisors, Robin Anderson, at extension 313 or Sharon Gibbs, at extension 200.
Shelter Island 45th Annual Science Fair
The Shelter Island School's Science Department will be celebrating the 45th Annual Science Fair this year, on Friday, December 4, 2009. All students in grades 7-9 are required to do an experiment following the scientific method and filling out progress reports as they go along. There are 5 progress reports that count in the total points during the judging of each student's project. These reports will not be considered complete if they are not signed by a parent/guardian. The progress report due dates are as follows.
Progress Report #5 - Due Monday, November 23, 2009 (11 am Dismissal. Must be handed in by 11:15 am.)
Your child will be given the progress report sheets in their Science Class. They are also available under the Publications and Forms tab.
